Palace Interactions — How to Read Relationships and Wealth

The brilliance of Zi Wei Dou Shu lies in how palaces interact with each other. Looking at one palace in isolation isn’t enough — you must look at the Three Directions and Four Justices, the Opposite Palace, and the Clamping Palaces.

Key palace interactions:

• Three Directions and Four Justices: every palace’s neighbors four positions away (on both sides) plus the opposite palace — four palaces in total. For example, the Three Directions of the Life Palace are Wealth, Career, and Travel.

• Opposite Palace theory: the opposite palace is complementary and conflicting at the same time. The Life Palace looks at Travel — at home you’re the Life Palace, abroad you’re the Travel Palace. The Spouse Palace looks at Career — love and work influence each other.

• Palace-Stem Transformations: the Heavenly Stem of each palace generates Four Transformations that fly to other palaces, showing how one palace influences the others. For example, the Life Palace’s stem transforming Hua Lu into the Wealth Palace means the native actively seeks money.

How to read wealth:

1. Look at the Wealth Palace: how you make money and your attitude toward it

2. Look at the Mental Palace: whether you have the fortune/motivation to make money

3. Look at the Property Palace: whether you can save and accumulate assets

4. Look at the Lu stars: where Hua Lu, Lu Cun, and Tian Fu are placed

How to read relationships:

1. Look at the Spouse Palace: the partner’s traits and how you get along

2. Look at the Life Palace: your own attitude toward love

3. Look at the Mental Palace: the spiritual dimension of relationships

4. Look at the Peach Blossom stars: Hong Luan, Tian Xi, Tan Lang, Lian Zhen
