The Ten Heavenly Stems are the soul of a Bazi chart, especially the Day Master (the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar), which represents the core personality of the chart’s subject. Let’s get to know these ten personality archetypes:
【Yang Stems】
🌳 Jia Wood: a towering tree. Upright, dependable, strong leadership, likes to take care of others.
🔥 Bing Fire: the sun’s fire. Warm, cheerful, optimistic, great at socializing.
⛰️ Wu Earth: mountain earth. Steady and grounded, generous, values commitment.
⚔️ Geng Metal: sword metal. Tough and decisive, strong sense of justice, pursues perfection.
🌊 Ren Water: great river water. Smart and agile, highly adaptable, full of creativity.
【Yin Stems】
🌿 Yi Wood: vines and flowers. Gentle and delicate, a team player, highly resilient.
🕯️ Ding Fire: candlelight fire. Attentive and caring, keen observer, artistic.
🏜️ Ji Earth: farmland earth. Warm and reserved, good planner, detail-oriented.
💍 Xin Metal: jewelry metal. Refined and elegant, excellent taste, strong self-respect.
💧 Gui Water: dew and rain water. Sensitive and delicate, strong intuition, deeply compassionate.
Once you know your Day Master’s element, you can see your strengths and blind spots more clearly. For example, a Jia Wood person is great at leading teams but should watch out for being too domineering; a Yi Wood person is great at coordination but should avoid over-dependence on others.
